Issue types: can they be customized?

Hi there,

I'd like to customize the types of issues in youtrack (namely I'd like to add an enhancement type, for now). Is this doable (using 1.0.2)? Couldn't find it in the UI, but maybe in some config file, somewhere?

Thx,

Andrei

Hi Andrei,

In 1.0.2, you can't customize issue attributes. However, the new version, YouTrack Daring, adds custom attributes, meaning you'll be able to solve your problem in the nearest future. Early Daring builds will be available via Early Access Program that we're opening very soon.

Jura

Thanks, looking forward to those builds, then.

BTW, since you mentioned you were testing alpha builds on your bugtracker, will one be able to go back and forth between different builds with the same database? If I upgrade the server and then find that I have some serious problems and want to go back, would I have to revert to a backed-up DB or will the the older build will work with the same DB? I wouldn't want to lose the new activity if I needed to roll back the tracking software, so this would be an important aspect when deciding whether to try out the EAPs or not.

Thx,

Andrei

Actually you won't be able to downgrade the DB from YouTrack Daring EAP to YouTrack 1.0 release.

OK, I've finally upgraded to YouTrack 2.0 but still can't find where I can achieve this. I need to define a new issue type called "Improvement", for instance. Where and how do I set it up?

Thx,

Andrei

As I mentioned in the other thread - it doesn't look like it's possible to customize the issue types in YouTrack - not even version 2.0.

Custom Issue Types do get pulled across from Jira installations when migrating tho.

I'm quite shocked that one can't configure these actually.

Yeah, that's a real letdown...

For the custom types coming from JIRA, do they show up in the list of options after that (for the new issues, or when updating other ones)? I might consider installing JIRA just for that, if configuring things there and importing some issues would fix my youtrack setup.

But really, JetBrains, how hard can it be? Can we have a patch, or a plugin that can achieve this? I see the types in the object browser, now all I need is a "new" button somewhere there...

Thx,

Andrei

Hi,

We plan to turn predefined issue fields to custom fields. The first predefined field to turn would be "issue type". And we are going to publish this change for "issue type" in YouTrack 2.0.2.
