Is it possible to use YouTrack with internal projects and public reporters?

I'm evaluating if YouTrack could be our Bugtracker. We have the need for an stable and fast system for all our internal work. I think YouTrack could do it. But now customers should also be able to report issues or ideas. As we have B2C products the number of customers is quite high, but the number of issues one customer would file would be very low. A customer should be able to track his reports but shouldn't see our internal issues and projects. A customer report should be public and selected internal issues should be public too. It seems that the "reporter" vs. "user" is a good idea, but I have problems with the limited number of reporters. Are there any limits of reports for the stand-alone version? Is there any other mechanism built in to handle those external requests?

Hello Stebi,
We appreciate you consider YouTrack for your bug tracking needs.

Please be aware that "reporters" only exist for YouTrack InCloud. For YouTrack standalone there're just users. A good thing for standalone is that for $2K you get unlimited number of users.

Whatever way you decide to go (standalone or InCloud) you can also let a guest user report issues.

Does this answer your question?

This is not what I'd like to hear, but answers my question. I'd like to have those external reporters better separated from internal ones. I don't need so much full fledged users and don't like to pay for them. Maybe an inspiration how others do it: E.g. TargetProcess has a feature called HelpDesk. It's installed as a separate Webapplication which communicates with the Main Application. Users can sign up for HelpDesk and can report and monitor their bugs there. But HelpDesk is very weak in features and has bad usability for reporters. Maybe YouTrack could do better?

Hello Stebi,
I'm not quite sure I get your point. YouTrack reporters are not that expensive (or just free in case you have a self-hosted version for unlimited amount of users). Further, you can narrow down the permissions set for what you call external reporters while leaving it as is for what you call internal reporters.
