Youtrack Mailbox integration - only for adding comments via replies to issue emails

Hi,

Could you please tell me if I can use only the add-comment-to-issues-via-email-replies feature and not the using create-issues-when-new-emails-arrive one?

It’s not a customer facing YouTrack setup for us. It’s just for internal defect tracking, so we are more comfortable filing the issues ourselves, but it would be great to have the convenience of commenting on issues by email replies.

Is it possible to have such an email integration with YouTrack?

Thank you for using YouTrack!

You can set up mailbox integration as described in our documentation. The email of integration should be the same as the email from which notifications are sent. Then, as soon as your team member gets a standard YouTrack notification, she can answer this notification via email, and the comment to the corresponding issue will be created.

Dear Mariya,

I have done the basic email integration and addition of comments by
replying to email works.

The point of my email was different - right now, when new emails come into
that mailbox, new issues get created. We don't want that. Creation of
issues we want to handle manually by explicitly entering defects in
YouTrack.

Can we set it up so that creation of issues is avoided when new emails
arrive into mailbox but comments feature continues to work?

Dear Roshan,

Unfortunately, it is impossible now. If you need this functionality, please feel free to create a feature request at http://youtrack.jetbrains.com. This is rather rare use case, but as soon as it gets some votes we'll implement it.
