How can I give Developers the right to assign tickets to themselves?

I need to allow users with Developer role to assign tickets to themselves, or to anyone (I'd prefer the first option).

How can I do that?

I can't find anything like that in the roles settings.

Hello Andrea,

Sorry for that delay!

Users should be included in target group. After that, please, choose the group under Administration> Projects> Assignees .

Let me know if it doesn't help.

I don't think you got my question.

User are already part of a group that is assigned to "Developer" role.

The problem is that they can't assign tickets to themselves (or to anyone else, as a matter of fact).

I want them to be able to set the assignee of a new ticket they are creating (themselves, or anyone else in the team).

Instead it looks like only me (Project leader, and also admin) can do that.

Hope this made my question clear now.

Thank you for details.
Is the user able to view Assignee field ? Please, provide me with the steps.
Please, check that Developer role applies to the project you user tries to change the assignee on (Administration > Groups > the group > click on Edit link, the project should be checked/ all projects may be unchecked).
Make sure Assignee is not the private field and if it's the case, the user is able to update private fields (Administration > Users > the user > User own permissions).

User are able to see the assignee field, click on it and chose another user, but then they get an error message.

I'm waiting to get the exact error message (that I'm missing for now), but I think that it's related to this other issue: http://forum.jetbrains.com/thread/YouTrack-1601
