Real-Time Integration

Is it possible to do a real-time integration with Salesforce?  I have a developer looking into the effort, but he mentioned that the data going from YouTrack to Salesforce would need to be based on a schedule and not real-time.  Just want to see if it is even possible first before we go down that path.

we don't know exactly if the Salesforce API allows real-time integration, but we have workflows that work in real time, more information about our workflows here: https://www.jetbrains.com/help/youtrack/incloud/7.0/Workflow-Guide.html
