Mailbox integration not creating tickets

Hi there,

I've got a very simple mailbox setup with YouTrack collecting emails via POP3. I've tested the mailbox connection and it works fine. There is a single rule will has a valid project specified with one mailbox, one maintainer, default folder, no TO: address. Reporter is set to "Create new account for sender" and there's no post processing.

If I send a test email to the POP3 account it gets fetched and deleted from the inbox but no ticket is created, no error is sent - nothing. I can see the emails turn up in the mailbox via webmail and then after the fetch has been completed they are removed. What can I do to find out where this is going wrong?

I'm running YouTrack 3.1.1

Many thanks,

Phil

Phil, can you show your mailbox integration logs?

Hi Maxim, thanks for the reply.

If I knew where they were then yes! Any chance you can tell me where they might be?

Cheers, Phil

Actually, mailbox logs lives with other YouTrack logs, e.g. file youtrack.log.

I don't have anything that looks like a mailbox log. I have found these entries in the bottom of the youtrack.log file. Are they of any help?

Hi there, I was just wondering whether the log file had given you any clues as to what might be wrong?

Many thanks,

Phil

Hello Phil.

I'm sorry that I've missed your answers. I found nothing about email fetching in the logs. Can you check content of the page MailboxSeenMessages? It has an URL like http://your.youtrack.host/MailboxSeenMessages . There should be a list of fetched messages with links to created issues / comments. Are there any messages?

Ah-ha, what a fantastic little page - can this be put in the help text for the mailbox issue as this coudl help a lot.

Anyhow, I'm seeing an entry for the emails as they come in and they all say "Message from user with no permissions to create issue" - the emails are coming in from users who aren't already registered on the system, they will come in from our users. Do I have to add each person who will email in to the users panel?

You can add create issue permission to all New Users. See this screencast for details.

Please create a support request here: https://youtrack-support.jetbrains.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=66282 and provide some details: do you use inCloud or standalone YouTrack? If the former, please provide your instance name. If the latter, please tell your version number and attach full Youtrack logs.

Maksim, let me clarify the situation here a bit. The MailboxSeenMessages page was never meant to be public, it was more like a tool used for diagnostics by our dev team. In the most recent versions, this page is no longer available.
