notification on "assignment" via user(1) field other than Assignee?

Hi,

I'd like to be able to have a second field (maybe Assignee2 for example) that will get notifications on "assignment" of a ticket via that field.  I realize I can make the Assignee field user(*) to accomplish this but the team doesn't want it to work that way.  Help?

Hello Jerry,

Could you please clarify your use-case and provide us with details? In general, you can create field "Assignee2" field, create such saved search and configure notifications in your profile, but I'm not sure that my assumption about your problem is correct. Clarification of your scenario will be very helpful.

I think that will work - I'll try.  To clarify, I have a new field say "assignee2" that is a user(1) field and uses the same bundle as the "assignee" field.  So I need to make a saved search "assignee2:me" then go into my profile configure notifications for that saved search?
