For any one else's interest I logged as http://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/JT-21198 and it's now marked as fixed in 5.0.1 (not yet released, not an issue for me).

Actually, using it a bit more I'm not sure it is the tooltip. However, left/right buttons operate only intermittently (Alt Left/Right always works).
