Adding a Watcher - Project Level?

Is it possible to add watchers at the project level with the 3.0 version?  The reason I ask is that it is redundant to have to add some people as a watcher to each issue.  Having the ability to add them at that level would save some time and effort for our team of users.

Please let me know.

Thank you,

Tim

Hi Tim,

do you want to some people automatically became a watchers of some issues in selected project?

Since 3.1 you can write the workflow below and attach it to a desirable project.

This workflow adds logged in user (if he is in group "mygroup", optional) as watcher to just changed by he issue:

rule auto-watch

when <issue created or updated> {
  if (loggedInUser.isInGroup("mygroup")) { //optional, add ex., only "Developers" or "Reporters"
    loggedInUser.watchIssue(issue);
  }
}

Does it cover your case?

Thank you for the reply.  That could be helpful, but here is what I was looking for.  For example, I have 7 people.  Three of the people are part of one group and 4 of the people are part of another group.  For a specific project, I would like one person from the first group and two people from the second group to "always" get emails on any issue for the project.  So instead of adding those people as a watcher for every issue, I would like a default.  I currently have generic groups.  If your suggestion means I need to make specific groups (say project specific like ITGroupProject1, that could get messy as we have over 100 clients).  I hope this explanation helps.

Thanks,

Tim

You can create saved search "#issues" in desirable project and ask (or make it under the admin user) people who should get notifications to subscribe with this saved search. Note, they won't be real watchers(like users with tag "Star"), but they will get notifications about changes of all issues in selected project.

Does these setting cover your case? Feel free to tell if you need smth else.
