How does the timer workflow work

I would like developers to simply have a start/stop timer button in issues to quickly record their hours, I see there is a workflow with this name which I'm hoping offers the desired functionality, but I can't figure out how to use it. I've tried attaching it to Projects and applying the "Quick fix", after which there is a "Time timer" field in the issue which lets me select a date ... and thats about it. What am I meant to do here? Is there any documentation on these workflows available somewhere?

Hi Nathan,

you've passes almost all steps, just enable "Time tracking" for your project.

When developer stops the timer then the workflow calculates the duration ('now-date') and applies the command: "add work Today #calculated_period". This adds a new work item to the issue, you can review it on the "Time tracking" issue tab.
