Helpdesk as an Issue Creator: having issues with Permissions

Hi,

I'm trying to setup an Helpdesk project for a non-development Team. Currently, I have created a Helpdesk Project, with an assignated user as Reporter. This account access the page and has the list of tickets and the Knowledge Base, which is actually the only two sections I want this user to be able to see.

However, I'm having issues when trying to place different permission. I would like YouTrack to show the page exactly in that way: only Tickets and Knowledge Base and nothing else. Different Reporter associated to the project should be able to see the exact list of issues, and should also be able to write articles in the Knowledge Base.

Giving roles and permissions shows me extra categories, like the agile boards and issues and also articles of the KB outside the helpdesk project, which is something I don't really want. Is there any way to “extend” permissions for a Reporter user, or at least recreate the same interface with the Roles and Permissions?

The issues are only reported internally, as a link between developers and customer in the same company, so the “Reporter” role is actually perfect for this, I just need two extra permissions to see each ticket in the Helpdesk Project and create Knowledge Base articles.

Thanks.

Hi Cdanilo25,

Granting the “Create Article” permission to the Reporter role will allow reporters to submit articles. As for helpdesk tickets, they are only visible to members of the helpdesk project team by design. You can add your reporters there if that fits your needs, but it might make more sense to set up a regular issue-tracking project for internal support.

Navigating these permission settings can feel like a maze, but don’t give up help is on the way! Thank you so much!  block blast
