How is a Gantt Chart supposed to be used?

Hi,

maybe it sounds like a stupid question, but I can't make sense of the way Gantts are implemented in Youtrack.

So I have a bunch of issues with due dates that I display in a Gantt. What's strange is that the Gantt does not show the Due Date, but isn't that the most important thing? How am I supposed to organize the issues when I don't know when they have to be done?

I imagine the best solution would be to have a red line at the due date for every issue so that I can't move it past that. Is that possible or is the use case of Gantts not what I think it is?

Cheers

Hello,

The scenario you described is indeed not yet supported by Gantt charts in YouTrack. There's a feature request for that, feel free to give it a vote: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/JT-68908/Gantt-charts-add-an-ability-to-link-an-end-date-with-a-custom-field.

In the meantime, as a partial workaround, you can set up a workflow that will calculate the start date based on the due date and the estimation you provide.
