More Detailed Time Estimations (Timesheet for Estimated Time)

I was wondering if there is a way to create more detailed Time Estimations, since by default it is only possible to set a single time estimate number per Issue.

In essence, we would like to have to have two separate timesheets, the first of which is for planning purposes, and a second one which reflects the employees' actual time expenditure.

This would allow us to fill out schedules into the future with the same level of detail as is possible when filling out Spent Time (i.e. through Work Items with labels and custom fields). Entering future tasks directly into the Timesheet does not seem like a good solution, since

  1. We lose the ability to use the "Time Estimation" field reliably, since all work entered as "Spent Time" counts towards the project's progress even if the work items lie in the future.
  2. Employees must directly edit the timesheet on a daily basis to reflect the actual work done, which destroys the original planning and makes it impossible to analyze how accurate the scheduling was.

Is there an alternative way to implement such a system with two separate but linked Timesheets so we can have a calendar-style, detailed planning?

Hello,

I'm Lena from the YouTrack Team. I will do my best to help you.

If we are talking about the Timesheets, currently, there is no opportunity to make it more flexible, I'm afraid. You choose the fields for time tracking on the project's level, and the Timesheets use this data.

As an alternative option, I suggest you take a look at the Time Management Reports: https://www.jetbrains.com/help/youtrack/cloud/Time-Management-Reports.html.  You can customize the fields which are used to create the reports, so you could create the separate reports for expectations and for the real situation. Unfortunately, there is no calendar view there.
