Creating new issue by reusing fields from previous issue
Hi. We are considering switching to YouTrack from Jira, but there is one significant feature that I am missing.
In Jira, when you create new tickets, there is a checkbox called "Create another issue". This means that when task A has been created, many of the fields will already be auto-filled when I create task B - such as assignee, priority, task type, sprint, etc.
As a project manager, this is very important, since I will be creating multiple issues quite a lot. Having to manually assign these fields again and again is a big time-waster.
I found the "and load another copy of the issue" option in YouTrack, but it doesn't really seem to do the same thing as in Jira.
Am I missing something in YouTrack? Is there a better way to bulk-create tickets?
I really like YouTrack so far, but I am afraid of the additional friction when my team members have to create multiple tasks. If something is too cumbersome and requires a lot of clicks, people will be more hesitant creating their own tasks.

Follow-up question:
Is there a way in YouTrack to have the "assign to me" feature from Jira?
I also looked into cloning a ticket (https://www.jetbrains.com/help/youtrack/server/Clone-Issues.html), but it doesn't automatically go to the cloned ticket after clicking the "clone issue", so that is also quite cumbersome.
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out. I've checked the "create and load another copy of the issue" option - there seems to be a bug that doesn't copy the fields values. I've filed a bug report.
Besides that, you can clone an issue as a draft (immediately after cloning you'll see a popup with the link to the newly created draft). This copied draft will have all attributes of the copied issue but requires one more click from you.
You can also generate an issue template and use it to create copies.
As for assigning an issue to yourself in one click, I can only suggest using commands. Commands work only in Classic interface for now but a simple "for: me" command will assign an issue to yourself.
Thanks for creating the bug-report.
May I kindly add a suggestion to the "create and load another issue" option:
Could it be changed to a permanent checkmark/toggler that persists while creating new tickets. So instead of having to click on the dropdown every time you want to create a new ticket with data copied from the previous, you could just continue clicking on the "create" button - just like in Jira (see screenshot)
Regarding the cloning method: it's not sufficient because it doesn't automatically go to the cloned issue (you have to click on the link in the right-hand corner). I know from experience that this additional layer of friction will make it cumbersome (and error-prone) when creating multiple tasks in a row.
Again, I would suggest looking at the behavior from Jira where it automatically switches the new cloned issue.

Sorry for all of these requests. I like everything else about YouTrack so far, but as a project manager, the daily tasks-creation workflow is very important to our team. The less friction, the better. Otherwise, people tend to go to something simpler (like Trello), because it's faster/easier to make new tasks with it.
Thank you for sharing your suggestions, I will pass them to our UX team to review. Here is a request to open the cloned issue by default: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/JT-75170/Open-a-cloned-issue-draft-by-default-when-using-the-clone-action.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
