YouTrack REST API authentication with API key

According to JT-15947 and https://github.com/github/github-services/pull/378 YouTrack now supports authentication using a unique API key.

Is this an official feature and if so, where in the YouTrack UI can I look up the API key for a user?

Currently, getting api key from UI is not implemented. You can vote for this feature: http://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/JT-18099
