Child issue as Kanban board card

Unfortunately, it's not possible in case of orphans view.
If you develop according to Kanban-style process and don't need parent/subtasks hierarchy, you might be reach the goal if use 'relates to' link instead of 'subtask of' between tasks. In this case, all tasks will be shown as stand alone on a board.

We don't need use parent/child for every single feature but we still have cross-system tasks that falls into such type of relation.

In our case we don't really won't orphan view for them. Ideal solution would be to have every child ticket as standalone card on the board instead of all children merged into parent. It will be required then to somehow visualize parent/child relation for this card for example. Can be something like "Child of XX-####" at the bottom of such card.

Your case is clear, but unfortunately, that's not currently possible by design.
If some orphans are in relations as parent-child, then it'll be impossible to show them on the board as an orphans, because this assumes to have kind of a tree view. And if it's the case, the idea of the board with orphans becomes useless. Displaying issues under one task, as a list of subtasks, solves the problem in respect of orphans view.
The best way to work with hierarchy is swimlanes.
I understand you are working in mixed process, but I should say this way is not working.
