Workflow constructor: field value inheritance from parent to child

Hi,

We are using YouTrack 2021.4.36872 and I am exploring a new feature - Workflow constructor.

As some basic flows are very easy to set, I am looking for a way to create a workflow that would ensure the inheritance of some values from parent to child.

Is there a current way how to do it via Constructor, or do we need to use an editor for this?

Example:

We have three issue types - Epic, User Story, Task

We have a custom field called "Team" which is available for all three issue types.

What I want to do is that if I create/update the User story (which is a subtask of epic), the "Team" field will be set (inherit) from the parent issue.

Thanks,

Vit

H!

I'm Sergey from the YouTrack team.

Currently, it's not possible to do it via a workflow constructor. We keep working on constructor features and plan to introduce more functionality in the upcoming updates, including a possibility to update linked issues. I may suggest following our blog where we post all the major YouTrack updates so that you won't miss any.

Right now, it's possible to do it via a JavaScript editor. There's also a built-in workflow that you can use as a basis for your own.

If any questions appear, let me know.

We also need this feature respectively to change a custom field in the Tasks when the parent User Story is modified.

Hi Christoph. Unfortunately, that is not possible at the moment. Feel free to vote for the relevant feature request: JT-68710 Workflow constructor: add an option to process linked issues. There is no ETA for this improvement yet, and voting should subscribe you to updates so you can stay notified.
